Y2K Bug In US Climate Temperature Data

Y2K is short for Year 2000. Since that was over 7 years ago, Some readers may not realize the fuss Y2K caused. If you remember Y2K, skip the next paragraph.

Power-Grid shut-down, Traffic Lights operating unpredictably, bank accounts suddenly showing a zero balance and automobiles that would not run were some of the predictions attributable to computers failing to recognize that the year 2000 followed 1999. There was an enormous push to insure Y2K compliance with an Army of Computer Programmers certifying compliance of zillions of lines of Computer Program Code. Dire predictions of Utility Bill for 100 years of service arriving in customers mailboxes. Or just as bad, fears of customers receiving notices that service was disconnected and would not be reinstated until some date decades in the future. In the end, due to a huge effort of the Government, Private Industry and dedicated Computer Professionals, Y2K turned out to be a dud.

Apparently at least one Y2K Bug remained hidden for over 7 years. According to the Michael Asher article (Blogger Finds Y2K Bug in NASA Climate Data, US Temperature data was seriously miscalculated.
The warmest year on record is now 1934. 1998 (long trumpeted by the media as record-breaking) moves to second place. 1921 takes third. In fact, 5 of the 10 warmest years on record now all occur before World War II. [emphasis mine]
This has a huge impact on US Temperature Data and those who Believe Global Warming is caused by man. Global Warming propaganda claims that man's use of Fossil Fuels like Coal and Gas are the cause of Global Warming. The problem lies in the fact that in the US, man's significant increase in the use of Coal and Gas which would have increased atmospheric Greenhouse Gases did not occur until after WW II. But 5 of 10 years of the warmest year in the US were before WW II.

This correction does not appear to be widely published yet, but it will be a huge set-back to those who believe Global Warming requires immediate action.

Exactly why it won't be widely published.

Ever notice that once the sensational stories designed to support a liberal point of view are corrected, the correction never gets the same coverage?
